Tarsus Üniversitesi’nin temelleri 1992 yılında Mersin Üniversitesi’ne bağlı olarak kurulan Tarsus Meslek Yüksekokulu ile atılmıştır. 2001 yılında Tarsus Teknik Eğitim Fakültesi, 2005 yılında Uygulamalı Teknoloji ve İşletmecilik Yüksekokulu kurulmasıyla eğitim faaliyetlerini genişletmiştir.Bugün itibari ile 4 fakülte, 1 enstitü, 1 yüksekokul ve 2 meslek yüksekokulu ile faaliyetlerini sürdürmektedir.

MidFest’26 Event Organized by the Department of Midwifery

The Department of Midwifery at Tarsus University Faculty of Health Sciences organized the “MidFest’26” event within the scope of “April 21–28 National Midwives Week.”

Held between April 20–22, 2026, at Tarsus University Central Campus, the event aimed to emphasize the importance of the midwifery profession. The opening speeches were delivered by Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Özen, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Duygu Sönmez Düzkaya, and Head of the Department of Midwifery Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eylem Toker.

In his opening speech, Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Özen highlighted that the midwifery profession is one of the oldest professions in history, plays a vital role in safeguarding the health of both mother and baby at the most critical moments of life, and holds an important place in our cultural heritage. He also celebrated National Midwives Week with the academic staff and students of the Department of Midwifery.

Following the opening speeches, the program continued with a theatrical performance addressing the importance of continuous midwifery care and emphasizing that midwifery is a profession that supports women and families, as well as a final recital reflecting the qualities of a good midwife. During the exhibition organized by the students of the Department of Midwifery, original works were presented, while various pieces were produced in the workshops. As part of the program, a navigation activity provided students with both an entertaining and educational experience. The program concluded with a concert, attended by a large number of university students, and a certificate presentation ceremony.
