The Biochemistry Summer School, entitled ‘Current Topics in Applied Biochemistry,’ which strengthens scientific knowledge sharing and academic cooperation between universities, was held in Tarsus on 27-29 October 2025, with participants from 20 different universities. Organised in collaboration between Tarsus University and Aksaray University, this year's programme, now in its seventh edition, featured presentations by leading academics in the field and hands-on training sessions with participants.

The opening speeches of the event, organised by the Pharmacy Services Department of the Tarsus University School of Health Services, were delivered by Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Özen. Prof. Dr. Özen spoke about the work carried out at Tarsus University in the fields of education, research and innovation, expressing his satisfaction at hosting the event and thanking those involved.

The programme featured educational presentations by Koç University faculty member Prof. Dr. Halil Kavaklı, Hacettepe University faculty member Prof. Dr. Lokman Uzun, Ege University faculty member Prof. Dr. Suna Timur, Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University faculty member Prof. Dr. Ekrem Köksal, and Tarsus University faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ömür Acet. The event, held at the Vocational School of Health Services, brought together a large number of academics and postgraduate students.

The summer school, chaired by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Odabaşı and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ömür Acet, both faculty members at Aksaray University, covered topics such as nanotechnology, biomaterials, new generation artificial intelligence-based biosensors, enzymes, antioxidants, and activity determinations. The event also included a ‘Chat Hour with Young Researchers.’ During this session, young researchers and academics specialising in the field shared information on national and international projects and scientific studies.

At the end of the event, Associate Professor Acet, who evaluated the summer school, said, ‘Biochemistry is a discipline that enables the understanding of life at the molecular level and has a wide range of impact, from health sciences to environmental technologies. These meetings not only facilitate the exchange of information among researchers but also pave the way for new collaborations.’ Noting that the event was a learning and inspiration platform for young researchers, Acet said, ‘This organisation, which is growing every year with more participants and high-quality presentations, presents a promising picture for the future of biochemistry in our country. I would like to thank all the scientists who contributed to this event.’
